Tony Teramana Cancer Center

Trinity Health System's Cancer Treatment capabilities grew substantially with the construction of the Teramana Outpatient Center in 2000. Since then, thousands of residents of the Tri-State area have received cancer treatment at the facility. In 2009, Trinity expanded the center to accommodate the rising numbers of patients being treated.

Upon opening, the Teramana Outpatient Center became the premier cancer treatment facility in the Ohio Valley. As evidence of its quality cancer care, the Teramana Outpatient Center was featured in the July, 2006 Issue of US News & World Report's Best Hospitals Edition. In 2007, Trinity officials realized that the facility had become over crowded and needed to be expanded. Plans for this expansion were finalized and the Center's treatment space has been nearly doubled. The cost of the expansion project is $8.8 million.

The Teramana Outpatient Center boasts a unique partnership with the two health systems in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; West Penn Allegheny and UPMC. No other facility in the region can make this claim. Radiation Oncology services are provided by the Allegheny General Oncology Program and the Medical Oncology service is staffed by UPMC Cancer Center physicians.

The expansion also included support areas for diagnostic and program support, including the American Cancer Society, as the center moves to a case management model for each patient. In this model - one person is assigned to stay with the patient throughout the course of treatment.

Two state-of-the-art Linear Accelerators are used in the treatment of cancer. A dedicated simulator is also used for treatment planning.

The Center also boasts a new PET/CT diagnostic machine.

The Teramana Outpatient Center also provides Chemotherapy and surgical consultation services for regional residents. The Chemotherapy Services at the Teramana Outpatient Center is provided with  compassion, privacy and optimum results.

This service is due largely to the generosity of the Tony Teramana Family, whose $1 million gift made this center a world-class cancer treatment facility.
