Trinity Announces Heartland 2015 With Shortened Hours

Location: STEUBENVILLE, Ohio

January 14, 2015 2:51 p.m.

Trinity Health System along with Prime Time Office on Aging, The Herald Star, WTOV9, Lamar and 106.3 The River, are once again sponsoring HEARTLAND 2015 at the Fort Steuben Mall on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Designed as the "Largest Heart Risk Appraisal Under One Roof," the event marks its 22nd year according to Keith Murdock, Trinity's director of community relations & development.

"Trinity Health System is offering this program to help community members improve their health through screenings and information. We will, once again, hold the event at the Fort Steuben Mall. Last year's attendance was tremendous and we hope everyone attends again this year. We did, however, reduce the hours of the event since the later hours of the event were very lightly attended,” Murdock said.

This year's event will include the Community Blood Analysis, which tests participants’ blood for more than 30 different screens.

"Our screening has been well attended for 16 years and we expect another large crowd," Murdock said. The cost of the blood screening is $35.

HBA1c screening will also be offered for $15. This screening monitors the glucose control of diabetics over time.

Several Trinity Health System service personnel will be on-hand to discuss their services and provide screenings in conjunction with the blood screenings offered.

More than 27,500 area residents have participated in the event over the years and organizers expect 1,500 participants again this year.
