Trinity Health System along with Prime Time Office on Aging, The Herald Star , WTOV 9, Lamar, 106.3 The River, and Mended Hearts are once again sponsoring HEARTLAND 2011 at the Fort Steuben Mall on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Designed as the "Largest Heart Risk Appraisal Under One Roof," the event marks its seventeenth year. According to Keith Murdock, Trinity's Director of Community Relations & Development, “Trinity Health System is offering this program to help community members improve their health through screenings and information. We will, once again, hold the event at the Fort Steuben Mall. Last year’s attendance was tremendous and we hope everyone attends again this year.”
This year's event will include the Community Blood Analysis which tests participant's blood for over 30 different screens. "Our screening has been well attended for sixteen years and we expect another large crowd." Murdock stated.
Several Trinity Health System service personnel will be on hand to discuss their services and provide screenings in conjunction with the screenings offered by Trinity Health System. These interactive displays will be manned from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
Cost of the Blood Screening is $35.00. There will also be the HBA1c test available for $15.00. The HBA1c test is used primarily to monitor the glucose control of diabetics over time.
Over 25,000 area residents have participated in the event over the years and organizers expect 1,500 participants again this year.
